A Little History

A great place to experince the history of the Abilene area is Frontier Texas.
The first time I went I was truly suprised how great it was. Here is the information:

Located in downtown Abilene, Frontier Texas!, a 14,000 square-foot facility on 6.4 acres, allows visitors to relive the Old West with the help of state-of-the-art technology. Frontier Texas! brings the frontier to life and lets visitors meet people who played out their lives on the Texas frontier. Cutting-edge technology puts a visitor in the middle of attacks by Indians and wolves, stampeding buffalo, a card game shootout and a prairie thunderstorm, even a lovely spring evening filled with fireflies.

Location: 625 North First Street Abilene, Texas 79601
Hours:Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
CLOSEDThanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day
Admission:Adults $8 Seniors (60 and over) $6 Military $6 Students and teachers (with valid ID) $5 Children (ages 3-12) $4 Children (under 3)

Something Different

If you are tired of going out to eat and then catching a movie then I have a suggestion for you.
What about checking out an Outdoor Art Exhibit. The fun part is that all of the Art is not located in one place .You have to find it through out the city of Eastland.

Here is some information and links:

Eastland's Outdoor Art Exhibit consists of 34 wonderful pieces of art placed near or on businesses throughout Eastland. Each piece of art includes a story of the painter's life or interesting details about the original piece of art. Maps are located at the Chamber of Commerce and at the Huge Campbell's Soup Can next to Dairy Queen, on the Interstate Service Road.

For more information follow this link:

The Abilene Reporter News recently had an article about it:
Here is the link:
Re-creating art's masterpieces
To see some of the greatest works of art in the world, head to Eastland, about 50 miles east of Abilene.
